Class Descriptions

We have classes for all levels available to students of hula worldwide.

Our courses give you access to personalized and interactive instruction, as well as archived class videos, so you can watch from wherever you are, as often as you’d like.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced student, a kāne or wahine, Ha’a Hula will help you develop as a dancer and take your hula journey to the next level. As you engage the practices of hula, our hope is that you will cultivate a deeper appreciation for Hawaiian cultural traditions and find inspiration in your everyday life through applying what you learn.

Our classes impart the skills of hula with an appreciation for the cultural values of Hawai’i. As you learn oli (Hawaiian chant) and dances in both kahiko (ancient) and ‘auana (modern) styles, you'll become familiar with the history, legends, spirituality, language, and land of Hawaiʻi.

Founded in 2021 by Kumu Andrea Luchese, Ha'a Hula is an online branch of Hālau Hula Ka Pi’o O Ke Anuenue, a hula school based in Ashland, Oregon, with roots on Hawai’i island. We are honored to share our love of hula with you here!

Ha'a Hula INTRO

In this free series, Kumu Andrea gently guides you through a week of short tutorials in hula basics. A link to a new video lesson is emailed to you daily. As your lessons build throughout the week, you’ll finish with the skills you need to learn a simple hula dance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our classes are archived in the video library so you can watch the replay any time and as often as you want. These recordings are one of the benefits of your enrollment. FOUNDATION, LIFE, and LEGACY class libraries expire one month after the course series ends.

After your FOUNDATION course ends you can choose to enroll in a Ha’a Hula LIFE course, our 12-week series of weekly Zoom classes. Haumana (students) who complete a Ha’a Hula LIFE course also become eligible to enroll in our LEGACY course, a special, invitation-only series for more proficient dancers.

All payments for our FOUNDATION, LIFE, and LEGACY courses are final. We understand that sometimes "life happens" and you may not be able to finish a course or attend all live classes. This is why we make all videos and class resources available to you for one month after the last class of that series.

If you are actively learning hula from someone else, protocol dictates that you ask for permission from your teacher or kumu before learning from anyone else. Please inform us if you are coming from another hālau.
